Introducing Bessemer City High School's Principal!
Duane Edward Hale is an Alabama Native as he prepares to enter his 19th year in public education in which he has served communities in the states of Alabama and Georgia. Duane has been able to grow professionally through his service roles as a teacher, content chairperson, athletic coach and director, assistant principal, and principal. Duane just completed his fourth year as principal at his alma mater, Wilcox Central High School (WCHS), in which WCHS experience an 11-point increase on the Alabama Department of Education Report Card Index during his tenure.
Duane received a Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree (M.Ed.) in Educational Administration from The University of West Alabama. Mr. Hale also obtained an Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University and currently enrolled in the Kennesaw State University Doctoral Program in Teacher Leadership.
Additionally, Duane considers himself to be an innovator who can inspire students, families, teachers, faculty, and staff with a sense of self-worth while working together cooperatively and collectively to prepare students for their choice of college and career pathways. Duane is genuinely excited about the opportunity to be of service to the students, parents, faculty, staff, and communities of Bessemer City High School during the 2020-2021 academic year.
Furthermore, Duane believes that a safe and secure learning environment is necessary for children to learn effectively from a philosophical standpoint. Further, Duane thinks that rigorous instruction and active engagement are the foundations of quality 21st-century education. By setting high expectations and challenging students to meet them, Bessemer City High School will continue to grow as a learning community.
Finally, Mr. Hale's professional motto is: "Excellence is the Only Standard," and this motto will drive the daily mission and vision at Bessemer City High School as all faculty, staff, and community stakeholders work together collaboratively to prepare all students for a better quality life and Duane is ready for this new exciting instructional and operational journey.
